Community Service
Lansing Clippers members use their sewing skills to help our community. Over the years, our group has helped many different community charity organizations. For Example, we have sewn:
-
clothing for children and donated them to Children's Closet.
-
pajamas for homeless children and adults at a shelter in Lansing.
-
cloth drawstring bags for Helping Women Period
-
fidget quilts for people in nursing homes.

Community Service Projects for 2023

The two community service projects for 2023 are showing terrific participation by our members. We are sewing, knitting and crocheting items for the Infants’ and Children’s Closet at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Lansing. We are also making cat and dog beds, dog toys, and dog scarves for the Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter in Mason. As of mid-July we have donated over 175 items to these two charities.

Community Service Project for 2024

Our project for 2024 is making bags for Sadies Dream for a Cure. This organization provides support for families of children following a pediatric cancer diagnosis. They provide both emotional and financial support. Please read more about the organization at www.sadiesdreamforacure.org.
We will help Saddies Dream for a Cure by sewing tote bags for them. The organization will fill the bags with toys and distribute them to children fighting cancer. The pattern can be downloaded from the website listed above. Our members may use their own fabric with the pattern or request a free kit from the organization’s website.

Sadies Dream for a Cure has made donations of these bags to pediatric centers at several hospitals in Michigan including Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
