Community Service

Lansing Clippers members use their sewing skills to help our community. Over the years, our group has helped many different community charity organizations.  For Example, we have sewn:

  • clothing for children and donated them to Children's Closet.

  •  pajamas for homeless children and adults at a shelter in Lansing.

  • cloth drawstring bags for Helping Women Period

  • fidget quilts for people in nursing homes.

Community Service Project for 2026

We have partnered with three senior living facilities to provide lap blankets/afghans, adult bibs and shawls.

Common Size Recommendation for Wheelchair Blankets

  • Standard: 36" x 42" or 39" x 42"

There are several different patterns available on the internet… so I will share a few links below to get you started.

The facilities we will be donating to are the Willows of East Lansing, Heritage Home in Holt, and Bickford of West Lansing.  Donations should be brought to the monthly guild meetings.

If you have any questions regarding these Community service projects, please reach out to this year's project coordinators Barb Humprhrey - bhumphrey1962@hotmail.com

Community Service Pop-ups

Throughout the year you may see little pop-up community service projects.  In 2025, the Sew Styling NG made and donated bookmarks for the Bath Township Library’s summer reading program.  The Delta Township Library has asked for warm hats, gloves, mittens and scarfs (handmade or purchased) for the unhomed persons in Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties.  This collection will continue thru the January 2026 meeting.  The Delta Township library will also be collecting baby necessities (think blankets, bibs, diapers, wipes, etc.) for their new and expectant mom fair in January.  Please bring donations to the January meeting.
