Community Service

Lansing Clippers members use their sewing skills to help our community. Over the years, our group has helped many different community charity organizations.  For Example, we have sewn:

  • clothing for children and donated them to Children's Closet.

  •  pajamas for homeless children and adults at a shelter in Lansing.

  • cloth drawstring bags for Helping Women Period

  • fidget quilts for people in nursing homes.

Community Service Project for 2024

We have chosen to support three (3) different charities this year.  The Ronald McDonald House, The Foster Closet of Michigan, and local animal shelters.

Ronald McDonald House

RMHC provides comfort, care and support for families with children who are sick... Helping Families Feel At Home Even When They Can't Be.

  • Utility bags - can be toiletry bags or string backpacks or zippered pouches

  • Lap quilts - lap quilts should average approximately 36x48 inches

Foster Closet of Michigan

Foster Closet of Michigan provides clothing, toys, shoes, baby equipment and gear, and in some cases furniture to children placed in the Foster Care system in the State of Michigan.

  • Attached is a list of items needed including toiletry bags, pillowcases, clothing, blankets, Halloween costumes, duffel bags (click on pdf to view list)

  • Most needed currently is clothes for 6-10 year olds

Local Animal Shelters

In 2023, our guild donated nearly 50 pet beds to the Ingham County Animal Shelter.  In 2024, we plan to continue these efforts and potentially expand into neighboring counties represented by our guild members.

If you have any questions regarding these Community service projects, please reach out to this year's project coordinators Barb Humprhrey - bhumphrey1962@hotmail.com (Foster Closet and Animal Shelter) and Shirley Swick - swicksa@comcast.net (Ronald McDonald House).
