  • Garment construction

  • Machine Embroidery

  • Knitting and crocheting

  • Fitting and pattern manipulation

  • Quilting

  • Hand sewing (embroidery, Sashiko, etc.)

  • And other fiber arts related interests

Please contact us LINK if you have an idea for a NG or would like more information.See the calendar LINK for meeting times and places.

Currently, the Lansing Clippers have the following Neighborhood Groups:

NG – Sew Styling

Purpose –  To pursue the love of sewing.  Every sewist is welcome, from beginner to experienced. We are primarily a discussion group, with interest in learning sewing tips and techniques. Members also try to help each other with sewing issues.  Please note the change of day and location.

Join us March 14, 2024, 1-3 pm at the Bath Twp Public Library for the reveal of our Sewing Journals. See “Year in Review – 2023” in, as we are following up with this great journaling idea! Please bring the library's quilt blocks for their quilt. We will discuss how we may help with the community service sewing this year and what garment interest you'd like to have us cover.

Questions - please contact Joyce Savage

NG – Happy Hoopers Embroidery Group

Purpose – To learn more about machine embroidery.  This is a discussion group only.  All aspects of machine embroidery are discussed and members show successful embroideries as well as those that did not turn out as expected.  Members try to help each other with problems they encounter with embroidery projects.  Everyone is welcome regardless of level of expertise or brand of embroidery machine.

Join us March 5, 2024, 1-3 pm at the Hen House in Charlotte for a discussion and show of embroidery for St. Patrick's Day and Spring Holidays.  Stitch out a design related to the spring holidays and bring it with you. You don't have to have a completed project.  We will be talking about design sources and materials used to create these designs and how we may use them in a project.

NG - Pattern Works

This new neighborhood group is still in the process of being formed.  Thank you to all who responded to the blog post indicating your interest in a neighborhood group to explore pattern works.  Pattern works could include fitting a pattern, hacking/mashing patterns, as well as drafting patterns.  The group might begin by doing some pattern hacking.  The more you understand patterns, the easier hacking becomes.  We may eventually move from hacking to drafting.  We will also cover some fitting issues at the same time. We have many experienced sewers in our guild and if we all are willing to share our knowledge, we can learn from each other. We will discuss what the group wants to accomplish at our April 13th meeting and plan topics for future meetings.

Our first meeting will be Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Delta Community District Library, 5130 Davenport Dr., Lansing, MI  48917.
