Currently, the Lansing Clippers have the following Neighborhood Groups:

NG – Sew Styling

Purpose –  To pursue the love of sewing.  Every sewist is welcome, from beginner to experienced. We are primarily a discussion group, with interest in learning sewing tips and techniques. Members also try to help each other with sewing issues.  Please note the change of day and location.

Join us May 9, 2024, 1-3 pm at the Bath Twp Public Library.  It's all about Sewing with your Feet! Members are asked to select a sewing machine or serger foot to bring (foot only) along with a sample to show how it is used.  Please let Barb Kavanagh know which foot or feet example you would like to show off.   We will show, tell and discuss sewing with your feet.  Looking forward, in June and July we will be making purses - choose a pattern that you would like to make.  We will discuss tips and techniques for purse construction in June with show and tell of our projects in July.

Questions - please contact Joyce Savage 517-331-9933 or at savagejoyce@gmail.com.

NG – Happy Hoopers Embroidery Group

Purpose – To learn more about machine embroidery.  This is a discussion group only.  All aspects of machine embroidery are discussed and members show successful embroideries as well as those that did not turn out as expected.  Members try to help each other with problems they encounter with embroidery projects.  Everyone is welcome regardless of level of expertise or brand of embroidery machine.

Join us May 7, 2024, 1-3 pm at the Hen House in Charlotte for a discussion and sharing of patriotic embroidery.  Stitch out a patriotic or Memorial Day design and bring it with you. You don't have to have a completed project.  We will be talking about design sources and materials used to create these designs and how we may use them in a project.  Looking forward, in June we will discuss in-the-hoop designs. Think about one you would like to do and questions you may have about the technique.  In July, it is Picnic Time! Embroider a picnic time theme.

NG - Pattern Works

This new neighborhood group met for the first time in April.  Pattern works could include fitting a pattern, hacking/mashing patterns, as well as drafting patterns.  The group might begin by doing some pattern hacking.  The more you understand patterns, the easier hacking becomes.  We may eventually move from hacking to drafting.  We will also cover some fitting issues at the same time. We have many experienced sewers in our guild and if we all are willing to share our knowledge, we can learn from each other.

Join us Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Delta Community District Library, 5130 Davenport Dr., Lansing, MI  48917. The library opens at 10am.  In April we focused on fitting the Moss Jacket.  In May we will begin looking at tops - any style and any fabric.  Find a top pattern you like and bring the pattern with you along with any questions you have about fitting it.  We will discuss fit and how to change up a pattern to be what you would like.
