Special Sewing Series

Do you love to SEW?  Beginning in March 2024, the Lansing Clippers, as a guild, will be working on two sewing tracks.  All members are encouraged to join in and make a jacket or a table runner.  At the March guild meeting we will get READY to sew with a focus on patterns, materials, and basic preparation.  In April we get SET to sew with a focus on adjustments and techniques.  In May at the guild meeting, we will review construction and finishing steps and then you SEW!  WE will be finishing up in June with a sew-in.  So, join in the fun and camaraderie, learn something new, and have a product to show off.

Garment Track

The jacket pattern is from Helen’s Closet.  It is the Moss Jacket and cost $16.00.  After we learn how many members sign up (pay your $10 registration fee) the guild will order patterns for members who are signed up.  If you complete the jacket, you will get a $10 reward in June and you will have the pattern.  Here is the link to the pattern.

If you don’t like the style of the Moss Jacket, we suggest the Loren Jacket from Style Arc at $12.77

You will need to buy this pattern directly.  You will get the $10 reward if you complete the jacket by June.

Quilting Track

We know that a lot of you quilt or you would like to quilt.  In this track you will learn basic quilting skills such as cutting and sewing triangles.  The table runner pattern is free at All People Quilt and can be downloaded as a pdf file.  This pattern has many applications for holiday, seasons, and favorite colorways.

Please make your decision by the January 16, 2024 guild meeting on which track – garment or quilt; and if garment which jacket pattern you will use.
